How To Make A Move On Your Crush

Featured, Life

We all know that head-over-heels feeling you get from having a crush on someone. Is there anything more delicious in the whole world?

An ice-cream from Messina would be a close second.

You could bask in that warm glowy feeling forever right? Spending hours stalking your crush’s Insta or accidentally/not accidentally bumping into them on your way to class.

But seriously sooner or later you gotta ova up and make your move. But, holy crap is there anything scarier than asking someone out? Putting yourself out there is risky for sure, but there’s no reward without risk.

There are a million ways to ask someone out. Here are some do’s and don’ts from our cast to help you along.

Don’t Play Games

Akasha (Stella) says to “be completely straight forward. Walk up to them and say something like hey I like you. Don’t play it cool or hard to get.” A much better approach is:

Do Be Resilient

“I would say to just go for it. Let them know how you feel. Don’t hold back,” says Beau (Ed). This is a great approach. The sooner you tell your crush how you feel the sooner you learn that either; they like you back (yay!) or they don’t feel the same way. It’s tough to be turned down, but just think of all the time you’ve saved pining over something that wasn’t meant to be. It’ll be awkward for sure, but the best thing to do is acknowledge the awkwardness and just power through it.

Don’t Use Pick Up Lines

“People always talk about pick up lines, but I don’t know. That’s a bit cheesy, bit sleazy. I think you should just get to know them a bit,” suggests Uisce (Harry). This is certainly great advice. Rather than rolling out a tired old line to get someone’s attention a way better strategy is to ask them a question. People love to talk about themselves and it shows your crush that you’re interested in who they are.

Do Be Yourself

Jess (Ingrid) tells us, “I just be myself to an overbearing degree and if they can’t handle it I’m like see ya!” No matter how drop dead gorgeous your crush is, if they don’t like you for who you are it’s not worth it. The most important thing you can do is be yourself and if they like you back then you’re on your way to a whirlwind romance.
