Melbourne’s Best Beaches?

Life

With only a week of summer left it’s time to prioritise people – assemble the squad and get your fine selves to a beach ASAP.

Helpfully we’ve pulled together a list of the top beaches to hit up while the weather is still worth skipping school for.

Jess recommends heading down to Queenscliff for beautiful clean beaches that “you can snorkel in and actually see stuff, it gets really deep, really quickly.” Queenscliff is about a 2.5 hour drive from Melbourne – while you’re on that side of town why not also check out some of Jess’s other favs including Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads and Geelong.

If you’re looking for a great surf beach near Melbourne, Beau can’t go past Torquay. Located at the start of the Great Ocean Road – ie. 243 kms of the most Instagram-worthy coastline going around – why not go next level and plan a road trip for you and your mates.

Akasha’s favourite beach is definitely St Kilda (not surprising – you can read why here) “there’s lots of people everywhere, a pier and rocks with penguins sometimes.” Say no more… you had us at penguins.

Uisce let us in on the little known secret that is Altona beach. This place legit has it all – it’s close by the train station, has gorgeous views of Melbourne’s city skyline, cute lifesavers (srsly safety first), PLUS you can also bring your doggo! There is a great off-leash area at Altona beach where puppers can run around and experience the joy of being at the beach.

Do any of these make your list? Tell us your favourite Melbourne beaches.
