We currently have four new Flunk movies in post-production, which will be released on the Flunk channel throughout this year. The films feature some returning Flunk characters, as well as introduce new ones to the Flunkiverse.
We’re very excited to welcome Mara Kremmidiotis, starring in, ‘A Year Later’. It’s a movie that’ll give you all the feels! ‘A Year Later’ follows Ella and Reece’s journey over 10 years, watching them grow up and chase their goals. It’s kind of heartbreaking, but also real, showing how tough it is to balance love and life.
Read part 1 of our interview with Mara about what it was like to play Reece and her experience making ‘A Year Later’.
Q: What was your initial reaction when you first read the story?
A: The way Ella and Reece’s relationship began was incredibly sweet, and innocent. Nothing quite beats that high school experience of a first love. And it’s beautiful to see this love evolve as they both grow. The love changes but never leaves. That’s what I think will make this film so beautifully relatable.
Q: What aspects of your character did you find most relatable or challenging?
A: I found Reece very easy to relate to. Ultimately, she was just a woman in her twenties trying to find her way in this confusing world, as am I. She was being pulled in so many different directions by her heart and mind and was finding it difficult to find her way.
Her experience with loss and heartbreak is certainly something I associate with my own experience in love and relationships.
Q: How did you work with your fellow actor/s to build the on-screen relationships?
A: Thankfully Kate and I had worked together recently on a short film. So we knew each other’s acting style and had already developed a bit of a working relationship. Spending such concentrated time together on set changing costumes and being each other’s encouragement and support from scene to scene definitely helped build on screen chemistry further. We had such good banter off screen it was easy to translate this to on screen.
