Original Flunk characters Ingrid, Celeste & Brayden return for new movie “The Girl That Got Away” (2025)

Lilydale Films is thrilled to announce its latest feature film, “The Girl That Got Away.” This captivating romantic drama, shot entirely in stunning locations across Victoria tells a story about love, loss, and the enduring power of connection.

Celeste, now in university, finds herself unable to move on without the love of her life Ingrid. But will tracking Ingrid down bring her the happiness she’s seeking?

Flunk fans will be delighted to see the return of familiar faces including Jessica Li (Ingrid), Madison Dell’Aquila (Celeste), and Caylen Forbes (Brayden). The film also welcomes newcomers Tash Bowers, Sarah Milde, and Jordyn Grubisic, who breathe fresh life into the universe with their performances.

Directed by Ric Forster and produced by Melanie Rowland, “The Girl That Got Away” unfolds against the picturesque backdrops of Lilydale, Sandringham Beach, and the vibrant Melbourne CBD.

“Bringing back beloved characters from the ‘Flunk’ universe was truly a joy,” says director Ric Forster. “This film allows us to delve deeper into their lives, exploring their hopes, fears, and the challenges of navigating young adulthood. Time has moved on in the Flunk universe, and they’re not quite the same characters we left behind. On the production side, this time around we adapted a partially improvised approach, allowing us to uncover new facets within familiar characters. We hope the Flunk audience will enjoy revisiting Ingrid, Celeste and Brayden as much as we did.”
