Flunk: Preferences (2026) lesbian romance movie

The Flunk story continues in our new movie, “Preferences”.

SYNOPSIS

Rhiannon’s world is small – a part-time library job, half-finished plans, and a friendship circle that’s moving on without her. When Odelia, the daughter of her mum’s oldest friend, turns up to stay for a few days, Rhiannon braces for the worst.

Years ago they couldn’t stand each other. Odelia was the golden child — driven, polite, competitive — everything Rhiannon wasn’t. But this time, things are different. They walk, talk, and remember. Beneath the teasing and contradictions, a new connection grows — tentative, confusing, and impossible to ignore.

As old friends Beth and Kerri re-enter the picture, tensions rise, jealousies flare, and Rhiannon begins to question not just how she feels about Odelia – but what she wants for herself.

Flunk: Preferences is a queer coming-of-age story about rediscovery, first love, and learning that sometimes, the people who annoy you the most are the ones who understand you best.

STARRING

Rhiannon (Georgia Condon) –The Chaotic Dreamer
Messy, impulsive, allergic to schedules. Works at a library mostly for the air-con and the company. When Odelia shows up, Rhiannon hides behind sarcasm – but her defences start to crack once old feelings stir.

Odelia (Grace Gemmell) – The Reluctant Perfectionist
Visiting Melbourne to decide her future – or so she tells herself. Polite, organised, always in control, until she isn’t. Rhiannon brings out a side of her she thought she’d outgrown: reckless, emotional, and free.

Beth (Harriette St Ledger) – The Grounded Friend
Library co-worker and Rhiannon’s confidant. The voice of reason who can see what’s happening long before Rhiannon admits it.

Kerri (Keira O’Connor)  – The Protective Bestie
Blunt, loyal, and always up for drama, Kerri has seen Rhiannon at her best and worst. She masks her own insecurities with bold humour and fierce energy. When Odelia enters the picture, Kerri’s protective streak flares – forcing her to confront what friendship, jealousy, and support really mean.
